That’s why Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics offers dedicated Sensory Hours at all locations, every weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
During this time, we adjust our environment to create a more soothing, inclusive space that helps every child feel safe and supported.
What to expect during Sensory Hours
Our Sensory Hours are designed to make visits as peaceful as possible, for both kids and parents. During Sensory Hours, you can expect:
- A quiet atmosphere: We limit noise and patient volume to reduce sensory overload
- Dimmed lights: Softer lighting creates a more relaxing environment
- Fidget toys: Available to help kids stay relaxed and engaged
- Weighted blankets: Gentle, comforting pressure that can help ease anxiety
- An inclusive space: Our team will provide a social story of the visit to walk the child through the experience
How can I help my special needs child prepare for the dentist?
One of the best ways to help your child feel comfortable at the dentist is by letting them know what to expect before the appointment. Predictability helps many children with special needs feel safe and in control, especially in new or unfamiliar environments.
